ACT 1
A market square in Barcelona.Kitri, Lorenzo’s daughter is in love with Basilio. Much to her chagrin, she learns that her father plans to marry her to Gamache, a floppish nobleman. Don Quixote and Sancho Panza enter the village causing a great comotion. Noticing Kitri, Don Quixote wonders if he has at last found his Dulcenia. At the height of the merryment Kitri and Basilio aided by all of their friends, including Espada and Mercedes, sneak off to elope aided by Don Quixote and Sancho Panza. Gamache and Lorenzo attempt to pursue the young couple before they marry
ACT 2: Scene 1&2: Gypsy & DREAM
Don Quixote and Sancho Panza discover the fleeing couple in a Gypsy Camp. Don Quixote believes that the windmill is a monster attacking his Dulcinea (Kitri). After attacking, he fall unconscious and dreams of Dulcinea. Don Quixote han an enchanted dream of beautiful Dryad * maidens in which the image symbolizes his Dulcenia (his ideal woman). During the dream he realized that Kitri is not his ideal, but belongs to Basilio. At sunrise Lorenzo and Gamache meet up with Don Quixote and Sancho Panza. Sympathetic to the plight of the young lovers, Don Quixote attempts to lead them astray
Act 2: Scene 3: The Tavern
Finally, discovered, Kitri is forced by Lorenzo to accept the attention of Gamcehe. The distraught Basilio pretends to commit suicide? Upon learning of the farce, Kitri employs Don quixote to persuade Lorenzo to wed her to the corpse. Instantly Basilio comes to life!
Act 3
The wedding. The village celebrates the marriage. Don Quixote celebrates the couple, bids a warm farewell and resumes his everlasting adventures |

Ludwig Minkus
Ludwig Minkus aka Léon Fyodorovich Minkus (March 23, 1826 — December 7, 1917), was a composer of ballet music and a violin virtuoso. Born Aloisius Ludwig Minkus in Velké Meziříčí (German: Grossmeseritsch), near Brno, Moravia, Austrian Empire, {today the Czech Republic}.
He is most noted for the ballets he composed while serving as the First ballet composer to the St. Petersburg Imperial Theatres, a post which he occupied from 1871 until its abolition in 1886. He continued composing music regularly for the Imperial Theatres until 1891, when he retired to Vienna.
